Prof. Dr. Murat Aydın corrects bunions with a Scarf and/or Akin osteotomy — fixed with 2 titanium mini screws with no plaster cast — allowing you to walk in a special shoe the day after surgery.

The Procedure
Scarf osteotomy: the first metatarsal bone is cut in a Z-shape and shifted laterally to correct the angle, then fixed with 2 mini titanium screws. Akin osteotomy of the proximal phalanx if the big toe itself is deviated. Both feet can be corrected simultaneously.
Recovery & Return Home
Walk in special post-operative shoe the next day. Normal wide shoes at 6–8 weeks. Full recovery at 3 months. Both bunions can be corrected in a single visit.
