Stem Cell Therapy (BMAC) in Turkey

Bone Marrow Aspirate Concentrate (BMAC) therapy uses your own mesenchymal stem cells — harvested from your iliac crest (hip bone), concentrated in a sterile centrifuge and injected into the damaged joint — to stimulate cartilage repair and slow the progression of arthritis. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Murat Aydın pioneered BMAC research in Turkey and performs the procedure as a single day-case visit.

Early-moderate arthritis
Response Rate
70–82% at 1–2 years

Symptoms

  • Knee pain on stairs and prolonged walking
  • Morning stiffness under 30 minutes
  • Mild-to-moderate joint space narrowing on X-ray
  • Cartilage defects confirmed on MRI

The Procedure

Step 1: Bone marrow aspirated from the posterior iliac crest under local anaesthetic (15 minutes). Step 2: Aspirate placed in sterile centrifuge — mesenchymal stem cells concentrated 5–7x (20 minutes). Step 3: BMAC injected under ultrasound guidance into the knee joint (10 minutes). All completed in one visit.

Recovery & Return Home

24–48 hours of rest with mild joint swelling. Light walking from day 2. Clinical improvement develops gradually over 3–6 months as stem cells stimulate tissue repair.

You will receive a comprehensive discharge pack: surgical report, implant documentation (if applicable), physiotherapy programme, medication prescription and a UK GP liaison letter.
